5 MARCH TUESDAY. Sound & Light Show and Gardens By The Bay (night-time)

We had a busy evening.   Firstly, cocktails in our Lounge at 6pm then we left at 7pm to go to the Spectra Sound & Light Show which is a free show on the Marina Bay Sands hotel waterfront every evening at 8pm and 9pm.   You can watch the show from the other side of the bay, near the Merlion statue, with the Marina Bay Sands as the backdrop but  we chose this viewing place as its closer to our next destination and we were on a tight timescale

I expected something along the lines of the wonderful 'dancing' fountains at Bellagio Hotel, Las Vegas but this was a combination of fountains, lasers and clouds of mist formed by bubble machines.  Its all rather ephemeral with holographic images projected onto the veils of mist.    David video'd the performance and I took still photos.   I wasn't using a tripod so the shots aren't great.  When I have time I will make more posts showing some of the videos I/we have taken throughout the trip.

A few photos

Night view of buildings around Marina Bay - waiting for the show to start

then a quick dash (well as quick as we could given the crowds of people who obviously had nowhere to go and nothing to do) to the nearby Gardens by the Bay to watch the Supertrees light up and change colour to music.    On weekdays there are two shows every evening at 7.45 and 8.45pm.

We didn't know where to position ourselves for the show and I think we (I) chose badly as we were underneath the trees so it was difficult to see everything as they are so huge.   With hindsight we should have found a viewing location a little further away ... never mind!

Again, David has taken a video of the 15 minute show - I took still photos.

By the time we got back to the vicinity of our Hotel, it was 9.40 and the noodle house we'd planned to eat at was closed.    However, we had walked past a streetfood place most days/nights en route to our hotel.   It had the advantage of being open and close to the hotel.     I ordered Kung Pao Chicken and David had chicken noodles.    Both were big plates full and the cost was just S$17.  Less than £9 for the two of us ... perfick!
